Who runs this? Is there actually a human involved?+
Yes. The One is run by Yashasvi Shailly, one person. Every profile is reviewed personally before a match is made. There is a compatibility engine that scores profiles, but no match goes out without a human decision. If you are getting an introduction, someone thought about it first.
Is this free? Will it always be free?+
Free for now. The One is an experiment. Early participants get in without any cost. If this becomes a product, early users will be taken care of. We will confirm consent before anything changes.
How long does it take to get a match?+
There is no fixed timeline. Matching depends on who is in the pool at any given time. If the right person is not there yet, we wait until they are. We would rather take longer and make a good match than rush and make a bad one.
There are more men than women in the pool. Does that affect my chances?+
Honestly, yes. A skewed pool means some people wait longer. We are actively working on balancing this. If you know someone who should be here, send them the link. That is the most useful thing you can do.
How does the matching work?+
We use a compatibility score built on values, lifestyle, and intent, along with a set of hard filters for things that are non-negotiable. The specifics are intentionally not public. The matching should feel considered, not gamed. What we will say is that your answers matter more than your demographics.
Why do you ask for a social media link after a match?+
The original idea was no photos, pure compatibility. More like blind date online. That is genuinely scary, especially for women. So after a match is made and both parties consent to the introduction, we ask each person to share a social media link to confirm there is a real human on the other side. It is shared with your match at the time of introduction, not before.
Will my information be shared with anyone other than my match?+
No. Your profile data is used only for matching. Your contact details are shared only with your match, only after both parties consent. We do not sell data, share it with third parties, or use it for anything outside of this experiment.
What happens to my data when the experiment ends?+
If The One becomes a product, early participants will be asked to reconfirm consent before their data is carried forward, and early users will get priority access. If the experiment ends without becoming a product, all data will be deleted. We will notify everyone before either happens.
I have signed up before. Can I sign up again?+
No. Duplicate entries are detected and will result in automatic blacklisting of both profiles. If you need to update your information, write to us at matchmadebyone@gmail.com and we will sort it out.
Can I opt out after signing up?+
Yes, at any point. Write to us at matchmadebyone@gmail.com and your profile will be deactivated. No questions asked.
I got an introduction. What do I do now?+
Reply to the introduction email. It reaches both of you in the same thread. Start with something real. Not a compliment, not "hey." Reference something from what you have in common. Ask a question you actually want answered. Keep your first message short. The goal is a conversation, not an impression.
What if I do not feel a connection after meeting?+
That is okay. Not every introduction will become something. We will follow up after your introduction to hear how it went. Your feedback helps us make better matches for everyone. You are not obligated to share anything you are not comfortable with.
